The Challenge is an all-day management event that gives aspiring senior managers the opportunity to work as a team on a variety of planned and unplanned events, and on a range of differing subject matter with varying levels of seniority.

Best, Highly Commended and a Shining Star!

Of the five awards, the BHCC team won the ‘Best Team’ and ‘Communications’ categories, were Highly Commended in ‘Behaviours’ and ‘Leadership’, with Alice being Highly Commended as a ‘Shining Star’.

The competition included other local authorities including Westminster, Tower Hamlets, Tunbridge Wells and Dartford.

Alice is the council’s Rough Sleeper Services Commissioning Manager; Haley, a Principal Accountant; Holly, an Operations Manager in HASC; Jen, a Practice Manager for our Front Door for Families service; and Louise, our Museums & Culture Business Manager. Jen said:

“As a team we are really proud of what we have achieved. It was an incredibly intense, fast-paced day but getting such amazing feedback and coming away with the prizes made it all worth while. It was a true team effort - such a privilege to work with these talented and inspiring women”.

The event took place at the Lords Cricket Ground last Thursday 7 December.

Alison McManamon, Director of Human Resources, said:

“This is a fantastic achievement and really shows the strength of our up-and-coming managers. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we’re very proud of them all.”

Chief executive Will Tuckley, council leader Bella Sankey, the Executive Leadership Team and many others throughout the council sent their congratulations to the team.
